My name is Carolyn. My mother, Gaynell Mathers made Queen G’s Cafe what it is today. My father John B. Mathers Sr. helped her get her start here in 1989. He was born in 1919. He was a navigator pilot in WWII and upon returning home went straight to work for himself and became a successful “Jack of All Trades” businessman. He always told us to buy local and support our fellow neighbors. My father was a true American and a firm believer of small business and hard work.

My mother holds the same values near her heart. She was a chief operator for the local phone company in the 50’s and 60’s. She met and married my father and became a one of a kind homemaker. Seventeen years later she opened Queen G’s Cafe; the same year she was named Queen of the Polka Dots Mardi Gras organization. She continues to help keep it a thriving business with some of Mobile’s finest lunches.

We thank you for your continued Support and promise to never change those tried and true recipes.
